PETROGRAD. Oct. 31.
Telegrams from Bucharest show that Russian reinforcements are reaching the Roumanians who are fighting in the Transylvanian passes. The fact that the weather is breaking is assisting the defence. The fighting has been fiercest round Predeal Pass, where there are constant struggles in the wooded uplands round the narrow defile. The Germans are exhausted by forced marches across devastated country, where supplies are most difficult to obtain. General Falkenhayn has been able to move troops rapidly owing to an excellent railway system behind him, but as the Austrians and Germans advance this advantage has been lessened.
