A PERIL THAT PASSED.
WAR ON MERCHANTMEN.
'.ORD BERESFORD'S OPINION.
A. ard N.Z. Cable. NEW YORK. Oct. 30.
The Washington correspondent of the New York Times states that in an extraordinary letter to Colonel Thompson, of the United States Navy League, Lord Charles Beresford says: "We escaped an appalling danger at the beginning of the war.
