CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER.

CHRISTCHUHCH. Tuesday. At the Supreme Court to-day Hugh Charles Graham was charged with tie manslaughter of John Finlay on September 50. An alternative charge of assault vras also preferred. The alleged offences, it was stated for the Crown, arose oat. of an altercation in a hotel between prisoner and another man. Finlay intervened, ami. it was alleged, was struck by Graham. On proceeding to his home Finlay collapsed in the street, his head striking the pavement, and he died. Prisoner denied that he struck Finlay, but said he threw deceased from him and he reeled back into a chair. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty on both counts.
