The double-page contains a striking series of photographs dealing with whaling in North Auckland waters. off Cape Brett. These pictures give a vivid idea of the methods of catching the. monsters of the deep, and some of the snapshots are remarkable. The flax industry has attained important dimensions in New Zealand, the value of the export for the year ended May 31 being £745.684. as against £414.517 for the previous year. A splendid and picturesque series of photographs deals in an interesting way with the industry in the Waikato. and i j will, no doubt, be viewed with more ' than passing attention. Several phases of the war are touched upon. Italy still j continues her victorious advance against r the Austrians, and in this connection an 1 excellent photograph of Gorz. which has been captured by the Italians, appears in the issue.
