ALLIES' ACHIEVEMENTS. | LONDON. August 3 A high authority, reviewing the results of two years of war, says that the allies occupy 1,071,000 square miles of enemy territory against the Central Powers' occupation of 167,000 square miles. The initiative has been in the allies' hands on all fronts since the Verdun failure; even in Mesopotamia they control the Shatt>el-Arab and the Irak province, while German influence in South Persia has been eliminated.
General Smuts is progressing in German East Africa, and the Servians are presenting a formidable front to the Bulgarians, while Britain has ample munitions for herself and her allies.
A total of 5,041,000 Britons have Voluntarily enlisted, and the whole manhood is now in the service of the natior in addition to the aid of the Dominions, and India.
