EDUCATION BOARD.
ELECTION ON WEDNESDAY.
CANDIDATES NOMINATED.
The election of education boards throughout the Dominion will be held on Wednesday next. In accordance with the provisions of the Education Act, 19i4, the Auckland district will be divided into four wards instead of three, as at present. The new divisions and representatives will be : City M ard, with four members, and north, west, and east wards, which are rural areas, with two members each, making a total of 10 members.
The following are the names of the candidates, those marked with an asterisk being members of the present board :— City Ward : Mrs. R. L. Baume, Auckland ; Messrs. F. W. H. Brinsden, Grey Lynn; S. I. Crookes, Auckland; F. J E. Ellisdon, Kingsland ; G. J. Garland, Auckland*: G. \\ . Murray, Remuera*; and P. J Nerheny, Mount Eden. North Ward : Messrs A. R. Harris, East Tamaki* ; J. D. McKenzie, Whangarei*; R. C. Smith, Matakohe*; and H. Wallace, Titirangi. East Ward: Messrs. E. O. Banks, Matamata* ; A. Burns. Thames*: and J C. Dromgool Auckland. est Ward : Messrs. W. Auld. The poll will be closed at five o'clock in the afternoon, but anv voting papers posted on the day of the election and received by the returning officer up to and including August 2 will be deemed valid.
