WOUNDED NEW ZEALANDERS.

PROVISION OF COMFORTS,

As acknowledgment of the receipt of the first monthly contribution of £100 from the Auckland Patriotic Association for the purpose of procuring extra comforts for the wounded New Zealanders in base hospitals was received by the executive yesterday from Colonel W. H. Parkes, officer-in-charge of the New Zealand General Hospital, who stated that this generous donation would materially promote the comfort of tho patients who were being removed from Egypt to England. Colonel Parkes stated that the exact location of the hospital required irnuch consideration, and bad not so far been communicated to him, but it would be in a position to render every possible I Service to our wounded men. ]

Mr. (JuriKon reported that- a cablegram had been pent to Colonel Parkes drawing his attention to the fact that the patriotic (societies of New Zealand are now making a joint contribution of £3000 monthly for New Zealand soldiers abroad, and that half this amount is at the disposal of the New Zealand War Contingent Association in London. He had been advised to secure his full share, from this sum as the monthly grant of £100 had now been cancelled. A reply was received from Colonel Partes stating that he was making application to the High Commissioner as advised.
