AUCKLAND CLUB'S MEETING.

The 54th annual meeting of the. Auckland Bowling Club was held last evening. Mr. H. W. Wilson, president, occupicd the chair, and there was an attendance of about 80 members. The annual report and balance-sheet stated that' owing to the overshadowing of the world-war the season was a quiet, one. and the usual festivities, including the president's "At Home," were not held. As the weather was particularly favourable the season was longer than usual. The club was represented in the Dominion (at Christchurch), Auckland centre (Christmas and Easter), and Cambridge tournaments, but the teams did not succeed in reaching the finals. Inter-club matches were played against 11 clubs, and only one match was lost. During the season the lower green was greatly improved by the greenkeeper, Mr. H. Dei§:hton. under the direction of the green superintendent, Mr. T. E. Pearson. With feelings of sorrow the committee reported the loss to the club by death of Messrs. Jonathan Wink and William Coleman. ex-presidents, and Messrs. H. W. Heath, Jas. G. Culpan. and D. McLaren. The income for the year amounted to £438 10s. and the expenditure to £451 18s Id. leaving a surplus of £4 lis lid. During the season the membership roll decreased by 20, and in addition to these, five members are on active service. lie roll now slanl* at 138. The report and balance-sheet was adopted. H. Atkin, Jas. Carlaw, J. M. Meniiie, H. G. McCrea. M. McLean. E. J. Thomas; Match Committee, Messrs. Jas. Carlaw. G. B. Osmond ; sole selector. Mr. A. J. Parker. Tho winners in the last two seasons' club matches were presented with patriotic certificates. the flags on which were s handpainted by Mr. G. W. Allsop's staff. Donations to the club's prize fund for the coming season were made by Mr. H. W. Wilson. £1 4s; Messrs. Jas. Carlaw, O. Nicholson, and J. M. Mennie, £5 3s; G. B. Osmond. G. W. Allsop. W. Callinan, and J. Ryrie. £2 2s: A. J, Parker, silver cup, and S. Coldicutt pair**of bowls to first-year players' championship. Votes of thanks were passed to outgoing officers, donors of trophies, and all who had rendered service to the club during the season. Voteß of condolence were passed to Mr. W. E. Bush and Mr. S. Coldicutt, both of whom had sustained family bereavements.

At a special meeting held prior to the general meeting it was decided that Rule 12 be deleted and the following substituted:— That the Match Committee .shall consist of two members elected at' the annual meeting, and the sole selector. The duties °f the Match Committee shall comprehend the Saturday afternoon draw and the arranging and supervising of all club matches 1 and also that paragraph sof rule 17, from the words " any member" to " the rule ' be deleted. MOUNT EDEN CLUB'S MEETING. The annual meeting of the Mount Eden fsowhng Club was held on Tuesday evening, in the enlarged pavilion. A record attendance of 58 members took part in the proceedings. which were of an inspiriting nature, showing that increased interest is being teL 111 the affairs of the club. The secretary's annual report dealt exhaustively with the doings of the club and members during the year. The extensive and elaborate addition to the club pavilion was referred to, and it was mentioned that it provided extra space and convenience to members, besides being more in harmony with the surroundings , of the district. Heartiest thanks were due to the president, Mr. H. N. Gill, for his work in bringing this undertaking to such a successful issue. The club had a successful season in regard to tournaments and matches A club team (G. H. White. C. C. Baker. C. Hudson, and H. T. Surman) was runner-up in the Auckland Centre Christmas tournament: and at Rotorua a team, comprising G. H. White, H. N. Garland. C. C. Baker, and R. Rankin, won the 1916 tournament with 11 wins and 1 loss. The winners in last season's club games were as follows:—Championship Singles: Winner, C. Hudson: run-ner-up. H. W. Brookes. Handicap Singles:' Winner. C. C. Baker: runner-up, W. P. Baker. Club Fours: Winners, E. Lewis, L. G. Coakley. A. Dickenson, R. Rankin; run-ners-up. C. Little, J. Hutchinson, W. Marshall, J. Findlay. Club Pairs: Winners, S. Gray and C. C. Baker; runners-up, H. Pollard and W. Stemson. The report, which also stated that over £40 was collected and handed over to patriotic funds last season, was adopted. The election of officers resulted:—President. Mr. H. N. Gill; vice-president. Gill and J. Vuglar; reporter, Mr. A. H. Bridge. The following competitions were decided oil for the coming season:—Club fours (percentage!. Nicholson feathers, club pairs, championship singles, handicap singles,-first-year players' championship. Prizes were donated by the following members: Messrs. H. N Gill, R. Rankin, C. Hudson. W. Reid, J. Vuglar. J. Smith. C. C. Baker. L. J. Coaldey. H. Pollard. W. Stemson, J. Findlay. and W. Marshall. Votes of thanks and appreciation were passed to all retiring officers for the good ■work they had done during their term of office. . During the evening opportunity was taken by Mr. Gill, president, to make a presentation to Mr. A. J. Dickenson, the retiring secretary Mr. Dickenson has held the office of secretary for three years in succession, and has made himself very popular with the members. Mr. Gill emphasised the large amount of time that Mr.. Dickenson bad devoted to bis duties, and the success that had attended his efforts .on behalf of the club. Mr. Dickenson suitably replied.
