AUCKLAND'S FOUR WARDS.

NAMES OF CANDIDATES.

Nominations closed yesterday in connection with the general election of Education Boards throughout the Dominion, to be held on July 19 next. Under the provisions of the Education Act, 1914, the members of all boards retire, and each board will be reconstituted.

The Auckland district is at present divided into three wards, but, under the new constitution, it will consist of four, as follows:—City ward, and north, west, and east wards. For each of the three latter, which are rural areas, two members will be elected, and for the city ward there will be four members, making ten in all. In each case the nominations received yesterday were in excess of the required number of members, and consequently there will be elections in all four wards. The names of tho candidates nominated are given below, those marked with an asterisk being members of the present board. City Ward: Mrs. R. L. Baume, Auckland ; Messrs. F. W. H. Brinsden, Grey Lynn; _ S. I. Crookes, Auckland ; F. J. H. Ellisdon, Kingsland; G. J. Garland, Auckland*; G. W. Murray, Remuera*; and P. J. Nerheny, Mount Eden. North Ward: Messrs. A- R. Harris, East Tamaki*; J. D. McKenzie, Whangarei* ; R. C. Smith, Matakohe* : and H. Wallace, Titirangi. East Ward : Messrs. E. C. Banks Matamata* ; A. Burns, Thames*; and J. C. Dromcrool, Auckland. West Ward Messrs. W. Auld, Hamilton ; C. T. Barriball, Waiuku*; J. Boddie, Te Kuiti j and G. J. Howes Point Chevalier. '

In connection with the citv ward, Miss E. Melville, a member of the City Council, originally accepted nomination, but agreed to retiro in favour of Mrs. Baume.
