BRANCH OF NAVY LEAGUE.

At a meeting the .Mayor. Mr. M. Wells, presiding, it was unanimously decided to form a branch of the Navy League, Mr. Wells being elected president, Mr. H. D. DaJriniorc, lion, secretary, and Mr. F. J. Brooks, hon. treasurer. Those present iveifcs elected the members. It was decided to request Mesdiuues B. S. Couper and Kdmoh<ds. Messrs. D. Con gal ton, M. P. McDeryiott-, A. G. Bojyce, and E. J. Wilkinson to arrango a popular entertainment to noise funds iifiniodiately, while a ('amassing* Committee, as under, was set up to collect Mesdnmes R. Reynolds and A. W. Gane, Messrs. M. Wells, E., N. Souter, W. J. Andrews, and H. D. Dallimore. It was decided to ask the local auctioneering rom|*anies to auction free of commission n«nv gifts of stock that may be received for the Navy Fund. A meeting of the locai committee of the Patriotic and War Relief Associating was held on Wednesday, Mx. Robert Fisher presiding. Replying to an inquiry the chairman said tho committee had no j>ower to advance money bo assist a returned soldier taking up land. The members present then sat as tjhe Cambridge District Loml Relief Association. It was resolved: "That to give effect to the resolution of the public meeting held on .January 7 last, the funds now in the hands of the treasurer,, and also the amount held in the Mayctral War Fund, be amalgamated, to be administered to meet claims for local distress, or otherwise, as may be determined upon from time to time."
