PARK FOR TAKAPUNA.

GIFT OF LAND OFFERED

Ax announcement was made at the meeting of the Takapuna Borough Council by the Mayor, Mr. W. Blomfield, last night that an offer had been made by Mr. W. Rushbrook, of about two acres "of land for the purpose of a park. The-land, which is situated at Milford, the Mayor said, contained a stretch of beautiful bush, and Mr. Rushbrook had stated that if he council wished to conserve it he would make it a gift of the land. Leading to the bush, however, were three allotments, which were in such a position that, to have a public park, the council would have to acquire them, and he was prepared to sell them at Government valuation, which was about £595. The Mayor went on to say that one of the sections contained stone which, worked, would make the investment distinctly profitable. There were also some beautiful trees on the allotment., which, he believed, could be conserved. It was resolved that Mr. Rushbrook be thanked for his handsome offer of property for a park, and that if financial arrangements could be- made the offer should be accepted.
