ANZACS IN LONDON.

EXEMPLARY BEHAVIOUR.

TRIBUTES FROM POLICE.

London, May .3.

The heads of the London police forces eulogise the Australasian troops. They say that all the troops in the metropolis behave well generally, but the Australasians are exceptionally orderly. The chief of the central district, -where most of the leading theatres and other places of amusement are, says that, it is rarely necessary even to caution an Australian in uniform.

IRISH-CANADIAN SOLDIERS.

FIGHT AGAINST SINN FEINERS

London, May 3.

A Canadian correspondent 'who has arrived at Kingstown states that he conversedj with a dozen Irish-born Canadian soldiers who were on furlough in Ireland, and who, being forced to remain in Dublin, running the risk of being sniped, seized rifles and took part in the combat. They say that the British have hesitated to exert their powers, wishing to spare the lives of the women and children in the battle area. The rebels were led by German officers who were in Ireland when the war was declared. The rebels showed no compunction as to whom they killed. All whom they suspected as not being allied to the rebel cause they placed in exposed positions. In this way they greatly hampered the movements of the British troops- Not one of these exposed persons is reported to have been shot from outside.

One Nationalist leader affirms that the German precipitation of events promises to go a long way to reconcile the people of the north and the south. An Irishman loves a fight, but never likes to be told how or when he is to do his fighting. Least of all does he like to see the German chip his shoulder.
