INTERNMENT OF ALIENS.
■♦»■ ARREST OF AN AUSTRIAN. Acting under instructions from the Defence authorities, Detective-Sergeant Hollis ' and Detective Powell yesterday morning ar- '. rested an Austrian named Matthew Andrew i Ferri. The latter was subsequently taken ' to Devonport, and handed over to the) ' care of the military authorities for internment. '• _ Ferri is described as an Austrian ' journalist. Some time ago he conducted an Austrian newspaper published in Auck- , land in offices in Coombes's Arcade. Later, after the paper, ceased publication, he i acted as an agent for the Austrians in tho Far North, and ho practised as an inter- i prefer, his offico being in His Majesty's , Arcade. He is a married man, about fifty years of age, and his wife and children reside in Wellington Street.
