CITY SEIZED BY ARMED FORGE OF SINN FEINERS.
POST OFFICE CAPTURED AND MANY HOUSES OCCUPIED. TWELVE SOLDIERS KILLED AND NINETEEN WOUNDED. (Received April 26, 8.45 p.m.) London, April 25. Ad official report states that the disturbances broke out at noon on llonday. A large body of armed Sinn Feiners occupied Stephen's Green, and by force took possession of the post office and cut the telegraph and telephone wires. They also occupied houses in Stephen's Green, Sackville and Abbey Streets and along the quays. In the course of the day soldiers arrived from Curragh. So far as is known three artillery officers, five soldiers, two loyal volunteers and two policemen were killed. Five officers, eight soldiers and six loyal volunteers were wounded. No exact information is obtainable regarding the casualties sustained by the Sinn Feiners. Reports from Cork, Limerick, Ennis, Tralee and Tipperary show that there are no disturbances in those localities. When he rose in the House of Commons to rnakt ; soAtCTient, Mr. Birrell was ashen-faced and appeared to be stunned. He has , always been an optimist regarding Irish affairs. The Natbialists sat silent and only the Unionists asked questions. DETERMINED ATTEMPT MADE TO WRECK A TRAIN. WARNING AGAINST CIRCULATION OF SEDITIOUS PAPERS. London, April 25. Soldiers were sent into the city of .Dublin from the Curragh camp, and these now control the situation, the trouble being well in hand. Attempts were made to wreck a train near Maryborough, in King's County, 50 miles from Dublin by rail. A telegraph pole was placed across the track. Shots were fired at a man trying to remove the pole. An engine with a carriage full of police was derailed owing to the rails having been pulled up. The police at Drogheda have warned newsagents against the circulation of seditious, anti-recruiting papers. CASEMENT NOW IN MILITARY CUSTODY IN LONDON. PRO-GERMAN ACTIVITIES TO BE DESCRIBED AT HIS TRIAL. London, April 25. The official Press Bureau states that Si" Roger Casement, who was arrested in connection with the abortive attempt to land arms in Ireland from a German vessel, was brought to London on Sunday, and is now detained in military custody. Evidence of his proceedings in Germany since the outbreak of war will be produced at his trial.
