INQUEST OPENED.

S'x*t excavation works on Monday last and "'flu died at the hospital on Wednesday, was opened before Mr. F. V. Frazer, owner, yesterday. Sergeant Parsons represented the police, and. Mr. E. Justin M&houey appeared on be half of the relatives of the deceased. Dr. McKelvie gave evidence that deceased was admitted to the hospital on April 10, suffering from abrasions to tho right side and chest, and from surgical cuphycema of the chest. There were indications that deceased's liver had been ruptured. Tho injuries were consistent with the theory that deceased had been crushed by a fall of earth. Deceased died from shock, due to the injuries he had received, on April 12. At this stage the inquest was adjourned' Until next Wednesday afternoon.
