GUNS ON FRENCH SHIP.
ASSURANCES GIVEN.
Washington, April 12.
The Government of France has agreed that the guns on the French merchant ship VvJcain, -to which clearance was refused, shall be used only for defensive purposes. The vessel has therefore been allowed to sail.
