TARANAKI PASTURES.

GOOD DAIRYING SEASON.

Rain lias recently fallen through out the North Taranaki district, and after the kng period of dry weather it, (should give the grass a good start for tlio winter pasture. Despite the dry spell there nover has been a previous season in the dairying history of Taranaki when thoro has been such an abundanco of pasturage as the present. Quite a number of reasons havo been given for the abundance of grass, such as heavy dews at night, and though this may have something to do with it, the main reason is tho comparative absence of wind. In most seasons a strong westerly wind prevails, and, coming from the 'sea, is salt-laden. The action of the sun on the saline matter that settles on the grass quickly burns up the pastures.
