REPORTS ON RECRUITING. / •_ ALL FACTS NOT KNOWN, Sydney, March 3. There is considerable comment on the slump in recruiting. The Commonwealth Minister for Defence, Mr. G. F. Pearce, states that the facts known regarding the enlistments are incomplete. There was good reason for not publishing them yet. He is of opinion that the number required will be obtained voluntarily. At the annual conference at Perth of the Liberal League delegates urged the systematisation .of recruiting. The Perth Chamber of Commerce demands the introduction of compulsory service, owing to the impossibility of protecting the primary industries under the present system. The chamber recommends that the Et-rl of Derby's group system be introduced.
