GIFT AEROPLANE FUND.
WHAT THE EMPIRE IS DOING.
A furthjjr meeting of the Auckland Provincial Aeroplane Fund Committee yesterday completed arrangements for a canvass of tho central and business portions of the city. As it is hoped to closo tho fund finally by the end of this month, nothing like a houso-to-house collection will be attempted. Printed subscription lists were issued yesterday, and further copres can bo obtained from the secretary, Mr, 11, H. Hunt. Residents of country and suburban districts desiring to mako small donations aro being asked to communicate with the treasurer, Mr. M. Louisson. A letter was roeeived from the Overseas Club, stating tho result of its appeal fdr gift aeroplanes from various parts of the Empire. Tho following is an interesting extract The Overseas Club has been the means of collecting over £100,000 for war _ purposes. .aeroplanes, given by various parts of the Empire. and representing a total expenditure of £45,000, havo been presented to tho Royal Flying Corps. The latest units presented are from Rhodesia, Montreal, Tasmania, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Ceylon, Bombay, Gisbome, Sierra Loone, Shanghai, Britons, Gold Coast Aborigines, and Newfoundland."
