MR. STEPHEN PHILLIPS. t By Teleeraph—Press A snocTsfaon— (Received December 10. 11 pan.) Ixixvas, December 10. The death has occurred of Mr. Stephen Phillips, the poet. Mr. Stephen Phillips studied for the Civil Service but abandoned this and went on the stage, playing many parts with Mr. Erank Benson's Company. He afterwards adopted literature as "a profession, his publications including: —"Marpessa," '"Paolo and Francesca," "Herod" "Ulysses," "The King," and "lobs." He was editor of the Poefcrv Review, the journal of the Poetry Society.
