Wellington. Friday. Tetk undermentioned grants of temporary rank, appointments and promotions of officers employed with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in Europe have been made: —

Auckland Mounted Rifles: Captain Charles Reginald Ernest Mackesy, to be major, vice Major Alfred Tattersall, certified by Medical Board unfit for active service for six months, dated July 16; Captain George Augustus King, NewZealand Staff Corps, from staff captain, Otago Mounted Rifles, to be major, appointed second in command, vice Major Frank Chapman, died of wounds, dated August 9 ; 2nd Lieutenant Walter David Ruddock, to be lieutenant, vice Lieutenant Holloway Elliott Winder, killed in action, dated August 9; 2nd Lieutenant Ewen John McGregor, Auckland Mounted Rifles, temporarily appointed machine-gun officer Mounted Rifles, vice Captain Peter Bain Henderson, New Zealand Staff Corps, wounded, dated September 3 (2nd Lieutenant Ewen John McGregor has also been granted temporary rank of lieutenant while employed as brieade machinegun officer, dated September 13); Lieutenant John Henry Herroldj granted temporary rank of captain, supernumerary to establishment, dated August 15. Veterinary Corps: Farrier Quarter-master-Sergeant Robert Irvine, artillery, to be 2nd lieutenant. New Zealand Army Pay Department : Captain James William Hutcheu, to be major : Honorary-Lieutenant Thomas Law less, to be lieutenant; Captain Norman Fitzherbert, to be major ; Thomas Edward Donne, New Zealand Records Office, London, granted honorary rank of captain ; Sergeant Frank Lawton Hindley, Canter bury Mounted Rifles (supervising clerk), to be 2nd lieutenant, Records Office, Alex andria. Maori Contingent: Captain Frederick Burton Mabrn, quartermaster and paymaster, is seconded for dutv under the Governor and Commander-in-Chief. Malta ; Sergeant J.
