BRITISH LOSSES IN MESOPOTAMIAN FIGHTING.
CLEVER WITHDRAWAL BY GENERAL TOWNSHEND. ARRIVAL OF REINFORCEMENTS ANNOUNCED. CRxvivqd. December 9. 11 p.m.) Lon'dox, December 8. The British losses in the recent fighting at Ctcsiphon, near Bagdad, in Mesopotamia, are given by Mr. Chamberlain, Secretary of State for India, as 643 killed find 3300 wounded. Tho losses in General Townshend's retreat were about 300. Reinforcements were ordered before the advance on Ctesiphon, and some have arrived. Mr. Chamberlain eulogised the- bravery of the troops and the clever withdrawal.
