REMARKABLE RECRUITING RALLY IN BRITAIN.
CLOSING SCENES IN TRIAL OF VOLUNTARYISM. STATEMENT OF RESULTS EXPECTED NEXT WEEK. (Received Dectm'ber 9, 11 p.m.) Londc-v, December P. The Earl of Derby's announcement that the enlistment groups will positively close on Saturday resulted in a remarkable re suiting rally at every big centre. Many offices have been open day and night and the recruiting staffs have been enlarged. Recruiting agents state, that the married men still preponderate, two married men enlisting for one angle. The latter still believe that the Government will not resort to compulsion. The Daily News says it is understood the Government will ask for a million men on the army vote next week; when particulars will be forthcoming as to the results of the Earl of Derby's scheme.
