ENORMOUS LOSSES INFLICTED ON ENEMY.
BREAK AND FLEE IN DISORDER.

Peteogead, October 2. A communique states: " A German attack on the railway east of Mitawa, 27 miles south-vest of Riga, was unsuccessful. Enemy aeroplanes bombed Ustovinsk, Riga and the station at Oquer. Little damage of a military character was done. The Germans, after a heavy
bombardment, carried some trenches north-west of Lake Sventen. We carried by assault "the town of Dunilovitchi. north-east of Lake : Medziol, and also dislodged the enemy from the village of Ajuny, , and the station of Medziol. Our cavalry captured a large enemy | convoy, east of Lake Narotch, on the Lower Servetch. ■: j *} "East of Novo Grodok we raided the villages of Juki and Korolitzy. The Germans fled to their main positions, discarding their arms. Wo drove the enemy over the River Chara, near Zurietche. " The enemy, after artillery preparation, attacked near Ofaorki, south-east of Kolki. They advanced 100 paces;, sustaining enormous losses, then broke and fled in disorder..
