The proposal to empower the Lake Takapuna Board of Control, by special legislation through the Washing-up Bill, to augment the North Shore water supplv. was explained to-day by Mr. A. Harris\ M.P., who has been interesting himself in the matter.
The Mayor of Devonport, Mr. Pickford, has visited Wellington and has placed the views of the Marine Boroushs Association before Mr. Massey and the Undersecretary for Lands. A clause is nowbeing drafted for inclusion in the Wash-ing-up Bill, which will allow the board to augment the North Shore water supply provide that members of the Board of Control shall be also members of the borough councils they represent, and give the board power to expend certain monevs in augmenting the water supplv. Mr. Harris explained that it is not "intended to interfere in any way with Mr Skeet's position. All that is proposed is to make it impossible for a man to represent a borough council after he has ceased to be a member of that council.
