RACING IN WAR TIME.

POSITION IN N.S.W.

NO REDUCTION OF DAYS.

Sydney, September 28.

The Telegraph says it is understood that it has been determined by those in authority that the number of racing days in New South Wales shall not be reduced during the currency of the war. One who is largely interested in pony clubs declares that an offer was made by the associated racing clubs to the Government to contribute £200 for each of the 72 days of racing held annually to the Patriotic Fund provided that the racing days were not curtailed. In accepting the offer the Premier is said to have suggested that the money be donated to the Allies Day Fund alone.

Melbourne, September 28.

At the annual meeting of the Victoria Amateur Turf Club the chairman stated that every meeting had shown a profit. The club has distributed £2500 in various patriotic funds, and the net profit of the year would also be distributed, making the aggregate £3267.
