URGENT DEMAND TO GERMANY.
SUPPLY DIFFICULTIES GROWING CONSTANTINOPLE DOOMED. DESPERATE FIGHTING IN EAST RUSSIANS' FIRM RESISTANCE.
It is stated that the Turkish mission to Berlin demanded immediate military assistance from Germany. The German plan was to reach the Black Sea, but it has failed, and now Germany finds it impossible to spare troops to attack Servia. An invalided French officer states that the Turkish losses are enormous. He is confident that Constantinople will be taken before the end of September. The activity of British submarines in the Sea of Marmora is said to have paralysed shipping. The Turks are compelled to bring food and supplies precariously overland, and are suffering from lack of ammnni. tioc.
It has been announced in London that the number of casualties at the Dardanelles up to August 21 was 87.632. The loss of the submarine E7 in the Dardanelles is presumed by the British Admiralty. The enemy claims to have taken its officers and crew prisoners.
All witnesses agree as to the terrible character of the atrocities being practised by the Turks against the ArmeniansIt is believed the official intention is a campaign of extermination.
It is reported that the Turco=Bulgarian railway agreement has been signed, and that present indications are that Bulgaria Tvill remain neutral.
The Russians have repulsed repeated attacks in the Dvinsk region. North-east of Vilna the Germans have crossed the River Vilia. The Russians are falling back in the Pirsk region, but are fighting desperately in Galicia. A small British force surprised a strong enemy patrol near Matau, East Africa, and after a sharp fight put it to flight-
