WAIROA ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Wairoa Road Board was held at Clevedon on Monday. Present: Messrs. A. D. Bell, chairman, Jas. McConanghv. J. Luke, W. Dader, and H. Walsh. It was resolved that the board retain the bridge on Brookby Koad, instead of putting: in concrete pipas as specified, and that the district road engineer be asked to transfer the grant for pipes to formation work and metalline. The deed of dedication of Ness Valley Road through the Ness Vale Estate was signed and sealed. A letter was received from the Auckland Coastal Masters* Association statin? that consignees paid wharfage and all ~ dues. It was resolved to reply that the charge made by the, board was for berthage of vessels, 5s each time the vessel was tied up or laid off the wharf. A report was received from the conrty engineer in reference to bridges in the Wairoa Riding. It was decided that, when the county is raising a loan for bridges, the chairman ask that the loan be sufficiently large to include Browne's Bridge, on the North Road, the ridingto bear its share of the cost.
Mr. .7. H. Alexander, the ranker, having resigned, the board derided to" call applications for the position. It was decided to ask the Panakiira Town Board and Papakura Road Board whether they would favour havine a ranger conjointly between them and the board. Tt was decided that the board would metal portion of Mataitai Road if the settlers widen the cutting 6ft. and form the road. It was resolved to cart ?0 9<n pines from Mr. Costrraves' to Barker's Ditch, on Hamlin Road. A vote of condolence was passed to Mr. and Mrs. D. Kearney, of Ardmore. in their bereavement through the loss of their son. Sereeant William Kearnev, who died of wounds at Oallipoli. Mr. John Alexander resigned the portion of teamster. '
