HARDWICK T. POOLEY. The Parnell gymnasium was well filled yesterday afternoon, when Harold Hardwick. the Australian champion boxer, eparred three rounds with Harry ilarquct. Hardwick. who is in. good condition, entered heartily into his work, and three fast rounds were boxed. .ij? M ero loHowed by rounds of skipping and ball-punching. The exhibition suggested that Tuesday's contest with Pooley will be interesting while it lasts, no matter who the winner may be. Albert Pooley gave an exhibition spsr at the police barracks last evening. He is in excellent .condition and in good heart, and should give a good account of himself on Tuesday evening. Both men are about 6ft in height, •*?? ?,? oley ,> weight is 12st 81b and Hardwiek'a I2st Sib. The contest will be held at. the Town Hall, under the auspices of the Xorthern Boxing Association. A boxing tournament, promoted to raise tunds for sick and wounded soldiers, was commenced in. the Academy Theatre on Thursday evening, before a crowded audince The.entries totalled between 30 and 40. the majority of the competitors being local men Some of the bouts were interesting. The tournament was conducted in a commendable manner, the decisions of the judge. Mr. Jordan, of Hamilton, finding favour in all instances. The secretarial duties were capably carried out by Mr J*. L- Noakes. The results are as follow: — Bantam-weights: Crombie . beat Ritchieidogan beat Kennedy. Feather-weights: Davis boat TarkerRitchie beat Beach.
