PETITION FROM AUCKLAND. "' [by TELEGRAPH- —SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] 7; Wellington, Friday. Z A mraoy, bearing the names of 5000 residents of Auckland, protesting against. -' the high cost of living, was presented 'to '/ the House of Representatives yesterday > by Mr. A. H. Hindmarsh. The petitioners ask that State regulation of prices may be .. imposed daring the war, and that all future awards of the Arbitration " Court'*;shall provide for a sliding scale of wages -- in sympathy with the rises in the prices of foodstuffs.
