RIVERINA DISABLED.
RETURNS TO LYTTELTON.

Advice was received at Lyttelton at 10.40 -~ p.m. yesterday that the Huddart-Parker '-■ Company's steamer Riverina. which left : - port earlier in the evening for Wellington « had broken down about 25 miles off "'& Adderley Head. The tug Lyttelton wa3 despatched at 11.45 p.m. to tow her back to port. The Riverina was picked up at? about three o'clock this morning, steam-? iug slowly back to port. The tug kept -I beside her for some time, and subsequently S a line was passed aboard the Riverina,' '» which completed the voyage back to the qj stream, where she anchored at about 6.30 -J with the assistance of the tug. A number H of engineers went out to the disabled M steamer this morning, and as soon as r& 8 p." Irs can be effected she will continue her y voyage northwards. v» | Messrs. Kinsev and Company, Ltd. ? agents for the Riverina. state "that theS ! mishap to the vessel was due to the in- - ! termediate slide spindle breaking at nip© | o'clock last night, when the vessel was 20 4 miles from Adderley Heads.
