DESTRUCTION OF GUNS. VICTORIA CROSS AWARDED. (Received August IT, 2-30 a m ). London, August 16. The Victoria Cross has been conferred upon Commander Erie Robinson. Commander Robinson advanced alone on February 26, under a, heavy fire, to the enemy's gun position, and destroyed a four-inch gun. He returned for another charge, and destroyed a second gun. He would not allow members of the demolition party to accompany him, because their white uniforms rendered them conspicuous. Commander Robinson participated in four attacks on minefields, being always under heavy fire.
