NEW ZEALAND WOUNDED.
VISITED BY THE KING. WARM PRAISE OF DOMINION. London, August 13. His Majesty the King visited the New Zealand Hospital. The committee is arranging for 125 more beds:. There are applications for -240, and 113 can be accommodated. The New Zealand High Commissioner, Mr. Thos. Mackenzie, his daughter. Major Bernard Myers, and Matron Tombs received the "Royal Party, consisting of the King and Queen and the Prince of Wales. They visited the wards and spoke to every wounded man, inquiring kindly as to the. nature of his wounds.
Mr. Mackenzie thanked the Royal guests arid said their visit was much appreciated by the men. their relatives, and the Government. The King congratulated the staff on the pieturesqueness and efficiency of the hospital. He said he would never forget the magnificent New Zealand response or the gallant work they and the other heroic overseas troops had done in the great war. He was delighted to see what was being done for the brave wounded. The Royal guests were heartily cheered. Lord Plunket, Lady Islington and foir James Mills were present.
