HUNTLY MINE SUBSIDENCE.
WORK PROCEEDING AS USUAL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HtrxTxr, Wednesday. Work was resumed in the Taupiri Extended mine this morning as usual. The cavity in the garden in Onslow Street, caused by the subsidence over the old workings of the Taupiri Extended, has increased in circumference during the past 24 hours, though the rise of the level of the water in the bottom of the cavity shows that the percolation of water and silt into the mine has been successfully carried out. The work of filling the cavity was continued yesterday until midnight and resumed this morning. In the mine itself a dam has been constructed, and such filling in has been done as has rendered the old airway impervious to water. The mine officials are confident of the perfect safety of the mine.. '
