ACCIDENT AT WAIHI.
/( INJURIES TO A MINER. [flr TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] * Waihi, Monday. A miner named Walter Quintal, employed by the Waihi Gold Mining Company, was seriously injured this morning while working in the vicinity of No. 4 shaft. One of Quintal's mates was using an explosive to break up-a block of stone. He states that he, warned his comrade of the impending' explosion. This was evidently not heard by Quintal, who was just passing the spot when .-the' charge exploded. The injuries were mainly to the face, and it is expected that Quintal will lose the sight. of one tye, and possibly the sight of the other.. " * ■ .
