MOUNT EDEN COUNCIL.
The Mount Eden Council met la.st night, the following councillors being present :— The Mayor, Mr. Oliver Nicholson, .Messrs. C. Hudson, R. D. Stewart, J. P. Hooton, E H. Potter, S. Burns, E. Yates, A. E. Bagnall, J. W. Shackelford, P. R. Skeates, W. Woolley, H. H. Seabrook, and J. Davis. A letter was received from the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board, informing the council that its assessment for the year would be £1502 18s 6d. Quotations for the supply of accumulator lamps fur the council's motor fireengine, were received from the Electric Construction Company, Ltd., Long hros., and A. and T. Burt, Ltd. The matter was left in the hands of Messrs. Stewart an> Skeates to consider and decide wuicli tender be accepted. The borough engineer, in reply 'o criticisms of the system of measuring loads of metal supplied to the council lor use on the Mount Eden Road, said that he had measured the drays in which the metal was carried. ■ The council was getting full measure, in fact, over measure. Ho challenged members of the council to visit tho place and measure the metal m tho drays. If there was short measure in one of them, he w.m'd give £10 to the Hospital Ship Fund. It was decided that the loads bo measured twice a day. , ~.:,,
