NEW FIRE-BRIGADE.

EPSOM ORGANISATION.

A meeting of those interested in the formation of a volunteer fire brigade for Epsom was held under the auspices ot the Epsom Road Board last evening. Mr. F. H. Wood, chairman of the Epsom Road Board, presided over a small attendance at the Manukau Water Supply Board's office. , Mr. R. G. Clark, member of the board, and Mr. T. J. Watt, captain of the Newmarket Volunteer Fire Brigade, were among those present. Mr. Wood said that up to the present} Epsom had been dependent on the courtesy of the One-treo Hill and Newmarket Fire Brigades. Fortunately Epsom had been peculiarly immune from fires. Negotiations had been entered into by the Road Board for the purchase of a section adjoining the board's office for a- suitable fire brigade building. A local architect; had offered to supervise the erection of the building free of cost. Mr. Wood said I he had always found members of a volunj teer fire brigade enthusiastic and keen, i and he had always appreciated their services. The chairman moved that a fire brigade, to be known as the Epsom Volunteer Fire Brigade, be formed. The motion was carried, and nine of those present volunteered to join the brigade. It was decided that the minim num ; ber. of members be. 12, that those subsequently offering their services be elected, and that attention be given to the matter of the equal distribution of members throughout the district. ,
