The body of a woman, found on May 7 in Prince Alfred Park, Sydney, bore sigii3 of terrible ill-treatment, recalling the notorious Mount Rennie outrage. The woman was identified as the wife of a chimney sweep named Pocock. The latter stated that his wife was in the habit of absenting herself for days together. She left home some days before the body was discovered and he had not been aware of her movements sinoe then.
