Melbourne, June 13. An uproar arose in the Federal House of Representatives this evening upon the in. troduction of the first Referendum Bill.

.Mr. Joseph Coot, Leader of the Oppo. sition, moved to add as an amendment the words, "As soon as provision is made by a unity Government and Parliament for the successful prosecution of the war. ' He deprecated the continuance of part? strife during the greatest crisis in the Empire's history, and said that an unfair attempt to amend the constitution '-<13 being made whilst 60.000 citizens were fighting and unable to vote.

The Prime Minister, Mr. Fisher, .announced that he accepted the amendment as a motion of want of confidence in the Government.

Mr. Anstey, Labour member for Bourke, has resigned owing to friction with tha Ministry.
