MEN CHAFING AT DELAY. EAGER GISBORNE RECRUITS. (BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] Gisdobne, Sunday. More recruits registered yesterday than during the whole of the week. This is doubtless due to rccent references to the urgency o[ the Empire's call. At present there are nearly 170 men who have been passed as fit, and who are ready to join the colours at. almost a day's notice. The draft that proceeded South to-night, and which, was given a great send-off, only represents 1 a portion of thoso who have enrolled. The next men to get away will be the seventh reinforcements', of Juno 13, for which only 15 mounted and 23 infantry are at present required as Gisborne's quota. The subsequent draft will not leave until the end of July, and consequently the men now enlisting have little' chance of getting away for two months. This fact was the occasion of keen disappointment amongst many of the recruits yesterday^ who ire eager to get away. Much dissatisfaction is expressed that tho man, after, they have enrolled, should be kept waiting for months before they can get away. INCREASING WAR FUNDS. SUGGESTED JJIGHKR FARES.
