EIGHTY-FIVE MEN HOLD BAVARIAN COMPANY AT BAY.
NEW ITALIAN GUMS PROVE DEADLY WEAPONS. (Received May 30, 11 a.m.) Berne, May 20. An Italian lieutenant and 85 men were ordered to hold the passage of the Agno Valley, on the Trentino frontier, against an entire company of Bavarians. Sixty Italians fell, and the position became very precarious. The lieutenant fell, riddled with bullets, just as assistance arrived.
