NURSES 1 HEROISM.
AT WORK UNDER FIRE.
BELGIAN RECOGNITION. (Rooeived April 4, 7.30 p.m.) London, April 3. King Albert has awarded three British nurses, Nurses Thompson, White and Waite, the Order of Leopold. The nurses were visiting the first line trenches and had reached an outpost when the Germans began to shell the position vigorously, killing and wounding several men. The nurses refused to return until they had tended the wounded, whom they carried back on stretchers under heavy fire.
