The Wairau regatta at Spring Creek today was held in favourable conditions, and proved a successful gathering In view of the championship regatta at Pic ton or Monday much interest was taken in till "Ben E r£r=» mile: Waitemata (Auckland) 1; Union (Chnstchurch), 2; Wairau 3. Also competed: Picton, Blenheim and Wanganui Union. Waitemata obtained a good lead at the start, but at the half-distance Christchurch Union moved up and a fine finish resulted in favour o W-iitemata by a foot, Wairau one rttid a-half lengths away third. Time, sm. 58s. Youths' Fours, one mile: Wairau, 1, Picton 2- Wanganui Union, 3. Only competitors. Wairau led all the way, and won by three lengths. Time. Gm 3s.
