[from our own correspondent.] London, February 19. Mr. R. Hislop lias arrived from Auckland to take up his duties as manager in London of the South British Insurance Company. Mr. and Mrs. George Wright, of Epsom, and the Misses Wright arc staying at Bournemouth. They think of sailing for New Zealand in about five months' time. Three residents of Gisborne have been t elected fellows of the Royal Colonial In- ) stitute —Mr. G. J. Black, Mr. E. V. ' Palmer and Mr. A. C. Steele. ) L The Rev. A. ,D. Tupper Carey, Canon 2 of York, who was one of tho missioners i ho visited New Zealand several years 4 ago, has been appointed commissary to 5 the Bishop of Wellington.
On March 23 the marriage is to take place quietly in London of Mr. Reginald William Hay, fourth son of Mr. James T. Hay, of Blackball Castle, Banchory, Kincardineshire, and Annie Ross, third daughter of the late Mr. Donald Ross, of Auckland, and Mrs. Ross, 10, St. Alban's Mansions, Kensington.. In 1898 Dr. David Whiteside Maclagan took his medical degrees at Edinburgh University, and he settled down to practice at Kaponga. After spending eight yean in New Zealand, Dr. Maclagan decided to take Holy Orders, and in 1911 j he went to Wells Theological College and was ordained in the following year to the curacy of Castleford, in the diocese of York. In 1913 he was admitted to priest's orders. Now Mr. Maclagan has announced his resignation. Informing his congregation of his decision, Mr. Maclagan said that his call to God came to him in New Zealand, and lie now felt a very definite call—which he could not resist—to return to the Dominion. Mr. Maclagan is a nephew of tho late Archbishop of York. He has been curate-in-char"o of St. Paul's. Glass Houghton, in the parish of Castleford.
