EXPORT OF OATS.
COMMONWEALTH CONTRACT.
[by telegraph.— correspondent.] Wellington, Friday. An application has come to the New Zealand Government from the Government of the Commonwealth that a quantity of oats contracted for by the Commonwealth Defence Department may bo allowed to be exported from New Zealand. Tho Prime Minister states that the Government intended to grant this request, which applied to a quantity of some 8000 sacks. The Commonwealth authorities made a similar request in respect of supplies of oaten sheaf chaff required for defence purposes. This request also the Government hoped to be able to "rant.
