FIGHTING IN INDIA.
RISING ON THE FRONTIER. TRIBESMEN DEFEATED. London, March 31. A Simla message states that it is officially announced that 10,000 tribesmen attacked Tochi, near Miranshah, in the north-west province of India. The force was driven back, 200 being killed and 300 wounded. • The'tribesmen were mainly Zadraus and a few Mangals. They were opposed by two squadrons of cavalry, a mountain battery, the 10th Jats, the 52nd Sikhs, and the North Waziristan militia under Bri-gadier-General Fane. A reconnaisance later showed no trace of the marauders.
