Adelaide, January 19. The South Australian Cabinet has accepted the resignation of Mr. H. Homburg. Attorney-General. Mr. Homburg : s resignation is the outcome of anti-German feeling. In a, letter to the Premier, Mr. Homburg urged the acceptance of his resignation.
"War lies and calumnies," he wrote, "continue -more virulently than ever. I wish to free the Government and party of any burden I carry because of my descent, even though this country is the land of my birth and T have never been away from it. I shall never let it be said that we sank because I was in the boat.''
The Premier, Mr. A. H. Peake, expressed the deep regret of himself and his colleagues that it should appear that Mr. Homburg left office because of the. opposition raised on account of his lineage.
