PENSIONS FOR SOLDIERS.
IMPROVEMENT DESIRED.
[BT TELEGRAPH.—P.IZSS ASSOCIATION.]
DfNEDix, Monday
At a meeting pf the executive of the Patriotic Association to-day the question of the adequacy of the existing scale of pensions provided for soldiers and their dependents was discussed. Mr. Fenwick expressed the opinion that men injured and the dependents of those killed should receive a reasonable allowance. The Government had never made an announcement in regard to the matter except at South Dunedin, where the Prime Minister had declared that the Government would do the right thing. Mr. Sargood mentioned thai he had discussed the matter with the Minister for Defence, who gave him the assurance that the Government had the matter in hand, and were awaiting certain information from the Commonwealth Government. It was finally decided to defer the matter till the* next meeting.
