PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.
THE FINANCE COMMITTEE
A meeting of the Finance Committee of the Auckland Citizens' Patriotic League was held yesterday.
The Mayor of Wellington, telegraphing on January 7, stated that the men then in camp at Irentham, and the thousands of reinforcements coming forward, called for the co-operation of the whole of the Dominion to provide them with comforts. The secretary reported that the Mavor of Wellington had been informed that the Auckland committee would prefer to give goods and equipment direct to the men leaving this district. However, further details of the Wellington proposals would bo welcomed.
Captain E. E. Maiden. Anglican chaplain with the force at Samoa, wrote thanking the Patriotic Committee for the gift of books and magazines which arrived by the steamer Navua.
The balance-sheet placed before the meeting showed that the committee had £6000 on deposit with the Citv Council at call, £10,000 with the same body for 12 months, and £22.000 with the 'Bank of New Zealand for 12 months.
