Rome. January 18Kixg Emmantel has donated £12,000 for the relief of children made orphans by the earthquake. The restoration of communication reveals heavy casualties in the mountain towns. Many of the injured died from lack of medical treatment. Hundreds succumbed from exposure.
Soldiers are clearing the ruins of a church at Ortucbio endeavouring to rescue 100 women, who are buried under the debris, and whose cries can be beard.
